During the NBA Finals in June 2016, Justin Bieber was caught on video getting into a fist fight with a man outside his hotel. Over six months later, the man Bieber fought with, Rodney Cannon, has finally came forward to police, who filed the report on February 15. Cleveland police are investigating, but they have not charged Bieber with a crime.

Although Cannon claims to be the man in the video, another man, Lamont Mitchell, said it was him. He later told TMZ that this wasn’t the case, but a week later, he told the Daily Mail it was him.

Here’s a look at the incident and video.

1. Bieber Was Knocked to the Ground in the Fight, Which Was Caught on Video & Released by TMZ

The fight happened on June 8 in the lobby of the Westin Hotel, the hotel Bieber was staying at in Cleveland. The video was later posted by TMZ and the person filming can be heard saying that he will send the video to the site.

During the brawl, the much-larger man knocked Bieber to the ground. The pop star’s security also got involved in the fight.

Witnesses told TMZ in June that Bieber was being asked repeatedly by fans for autographs and a photo, which is known to annoy Bieber.

Bieber Incident Report by KimAnderson on Scribd

In the police report, which you can read above, the 34-year-old Cannon claims that Bieber punched him three times and caused an “acute head injury.” The Las Vegas native also claimed that he suffered a possible concussion.

As Cleveland.com points out, Cannon claims he met Bieber as they walked to the hotel after the game and shared a drink. When Bieber grabbed his glasses, Cannon took a photo of him. According to the police report, Cannon told Bieber he would delete the photo if Bieber gave him his glasses back.

Instead of giving him the glasses back, Bieber grabbed Cannon’s phone, according to the report. As Bieber tried to delete the photos, Cannon tried to grab it back since Bieber still had the glasses. That’s when Bieber started punching him, the report says.

Cannon then wrestled Bieber to the ground, as bodyguards started punching him, according to the report. He says Bieber damaged his phone. The police report says that Cannon waited until he returned to Nevada to receive treatment at a hospital.

TMZ’s law enforcement sources say that the investigation is still ongoing. Police haven’t filed charges yet.

Cannon did tell police that he has video of the incident, but it’s not clear if he was referring to the TMZ video.

4. Lamont Richmond First Claimed He Was the Man Who Picked a Fight With Bieber

Just hours after the video was released, Lamonnt Richmond claimed that he was the one who started the fight with Bieber. He even admitted to doing so in a Facebook video obtained by TMZ.

“The fool ran up on me,” Richmond said in the Facebook video. “I was with the girls, we just asked the n*gga for an autograph. I don’t know about all this other stuff, people are talking about. I got nothing else to say.”

Mitchell then told TMZ that he saw Bieber at the Westin Hotel and was with two women. He asked Bieber if his friends could take a picture with them, but Bieber said, “No autographs tonight, motherf****r,” according to Mitchell. Mitchell told TMZ that Beiber swung at him, starting the fight.

Later, TMZ updated their story because Mitchell told them that he was not the man in the video. He said he lost his job and received death threats from Bieber fans. The story he told TMZ also contradicts what Cannon told Cleveland police.

Oddly enough, a week after telling TMZ that he wasn’t the man in the video, Mitchell told The Daily Mail that he was and repeated the same story. Again, that story is not the same as what Cannon told police.
