The anticipated new character for Sonic Forces has been revealed to be… whoever you want!
Sonic Forces will allow you to customize your very own hero, essentially turning your sonic fanfiction character to life. You can choose from a variety of animals, clothing, and gadgets that you can take with you through the game.
IGN confirmed that there are seven character types that you can base your character off of and that each one has a unique ability.
Bear — Blows away enemies with a homing attack
Bird — Flies high with double jump abilities
Cat — Keeps one ring after being hit
Dog — Restarts with five rings after the player dies
Hedgehog — Collects rings when getting damaged
Rabbit — Has longer invincible time after receiving damage
Wolf — Automatically draws in rings when near them
Clothing options and accessories are unlocked as you play through the game. All characters will be equipped with a grappling hook. Gadgets will take the form of Wispons, a new form of the Wisps from Sonic Colors which can be used for combat and level traversal. The character will also be featured in cutscenes.
This follows up from the teaser image posted by the Official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account, which showed off a small section of the robot featured in today’s trailer.
For those disappointed that the new character isn’t Bubsy, I guess you could always make your own version.
Sonic Forces is coming this holiday 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
