(OK)
Prince Harry is not engaged to Meghan Markle, nor did the palace confirm the claim, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this made-up magazine cover story. We’re assured there’s “no truth” to the article.
According to the new cover of OK!, the “palace confirms” Markle and Prince Harry are “engaged.” The tabloid further promises on it front page details about his “romantic proposal” and how the “Queen picked the antique family ring.” Inside the repeatedly disproven publication, the magazine alleges, “The spare heir has already popped the question to girlfriend Meghan Markle, and she said yes.”
The outlet further purports Prince Harry and Markle “have been secretly engaged for weeks.” A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “They’ve been holding in the news like a couple of giddy school kids; they’re dying to finally be able to share it with the rest of the world.”
So, how did Prince Harry pop the question? The magazine’s “source,” who must have been hiding under Prince Harry’s couch, says on their six-month anniversary in his London home, “The prince asked Meghan to marry him over a glass of champagne. He was worried she would think he was being rash, but she said yes right away.” And while the Queen has yet to meet the “Suits” actress, the outlet alleges she “offered up her approval by choosing an engagement ring for the royal-to-be from among her treasure trove of family heirlooms.”
A few things ought to be pointed out. How can the often discredited publication claim the “palace confirms” the engagement, and yet assert Prince Harry and Markle are still “secretly engaged,” and “they’re dying to finally be able to share [the news] with the rest of the world”? Additionally, protocol calls for the Queen meeting prospective spouses before giving her approval to marry.
Notwithstanding the factual flaws in the OK! cover story, Gossip Cop still ran the article by an impeccable royal insider, who 100 percent assures us the palace did not confirm the story and, more significantly, Prince Harry is not engaged “secretly” or otherwise. Also, a source close to Markle also exclusively tells Gossip Cop that there is “no truth” to the magazine’s engagement report.
Of course, the publication has very little credibility when it comes to the red-headed royal. In 2015, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid when it falsely claimed Prince Harry was engaged to Cressida Bonas. We then shot down similarly inaccurate stories about Prince Harry secretly dating Pippa Middleton and also moving to America. And just last month, Gossip Cop exposed the magazine for wrongly reporting Prince Harry had a date with Rihanna. Not one of those articles were true, and neither is the latest about Markle and Prince being engaged.
