Emma Watson appeared on Friday’s “Good Morning America” to talk about the highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast. Check out the video below!
The actress spoke to the “GMA” panel in a live segment on the morning show about the new Beauty and the Beast movie, and opened up on how difficult it was to sing in the film. “It’s something I’ve always done and loved to do, but to do it in such a beloved musical when the songs are so well-known, I really felt the weight of that,” Watson noted. “There’s something so vulnerable about singing. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s totally different from acting, there’s nothing to hide behind. It’s your voice. I felt very naked doing it for the first time. That was the hardest.”
Watson also spoke about the development of her character Belle, and how she fits into modern society. “She is a little different. We had a little more space and room to tell Belle’s story in this one,” the actress noted. “She’s a slightly more modern version. The first original film was released in 1992, and now we’re in 2017. She was updated a little bit.”
Watson then discussed how she keeps in touch with her Harry Potter costars, some of whom attended the Beauty and the Beast world premiere. “I’m so proud of this movie and I wanted them to feel included, so of course I invited them to come. My classmates are spread all over the world now, living in different places, so it’s a bit like a Pokemon game, I’m trying to run around the world and catch them all,” the actress joked.
