Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi sat down with Fox News’ Bret Baier to talk about the continuing series of problems that are ongoing in the Middle East. The Egyptian president told Baier that he had complete faith in President Trump’s “capability” to be President of the United States.
Interestingly, el-Sisi argued that President Obama’s bad decision making has led to many of the problems that we are now seeing in the Middle East, in particular el-Sisi blamed Obama’s mistakes for allowing the Russians to assume a much larger role in Syria. The decision that led to Russia’s rise in the Middle East is now causing bigger problems throughout the region but el-Sisi hopes the new President will help shift the balance away from Russia again.
BAIER: Do you think that the vacuum left by the Obama administration enabled Russia to take a greater foothold in your region?
EL-SISI: In fact many things over the last four years occurred and caused many, many problems. That’s a fact. The region is paying a very heavy price for that, not just Syria. The entire region is paying that price.
BAIER: And you hope to turn that around with the U.S. or without the U.S.?
EL-SISI: It can’t happen without them.
