Add fresh groceries to the list of things that you can buy on Amazon.
AmazonFresh, the e-commerce giant’s grocery delivery service, is now available in the Denver area, officials announced Wednesday.
For an extra $14.99 a month, Amazon Prime members can get unlimited free delivery of grocery orders totalling $40 or more. Same-day and next-day delivery is available.
Among the items available for delivery: fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood, baked goods, dairy, dry goods, pet supplies, baby items, beauty products and meal kits.
Local merchants including Pacific Ocean Marketplace, Voodoo Doughnut, Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe, St. Kilian’s Cheese Shop, Wheat Ridge Poultry & Meats and Vert Kitchen are also participating in the service.
It’s the latest expansion for Amazon in the Denver area. Since the opening of its Aurora sorting facility last year, the company has added Sunday delivery and self-service package pick-up services in the area. Its first Colorado fulfillment center, a 1 million-square-foot warehouse in Aurora, could open sometime this summer.

With AmazonFresh, though, the e-commerce giant is jumping into a crowded local food delivery market. Brick-and-mortar grocery stores King Soopers and Safeway already offer delivery in the Denver metro area, as do specialized services such as Instacart and Louisville’s Door to Door Organics.
