(Fox)
The season seven finale of Fox‘s acclaimed animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers aired tonight. So, you might be wondering if the show will be returning in fall 2017. The answer is yes, as Fox has renewed the show for an eighth season.
Fox renewed Bob’s Burgers for two more seasons in October 2015, The Hollywood Reporter noted at the time. The decision gave the animators ample time to get each season ready. Bob’s Burgers is already well past 100 episodes, with 129 already completed.
The seventh season of the series is down from season six in the ratings, but it has been a consistent performer for Fox. As TVSeriesFinale note, the season averaged a 0.96 18-49 rating, which was only down 8.62 percent from the previous season. It averaged 2.156 million total viewers, which was down just 5.75 percent from season six.
Bob’s Burgers was created by Loren Bouchard (Home Movies), who developed the series with Jim Dauterive (King of the Hill). The series has frequently been nominated for the Outstanding Animated Program Emmy and won the award in 2014. It has also won four Annie Awards from the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association.
H. Jon Benjamin (Archer) voices Bob Belcher, who runs a hamburger restaurant with his family – Linda (John Roberts), Louise (Kristen Schall), Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Tina (Dan Mintz). Unfortunately, his children often get in the way of his sales.
The season finale is titled “Paraders of the Lost Float,” in which Teddy (Larry Murphy) convinces Bob to enter a float in the Bog To Beach Parade, even though the forecast shows it will rain. Teddy thinks Bob will easily win, but things don’t go that way. Kevin Kline and Sarah Silverman guest-star.
Although this episode is officially considered the season seven finale, Fox is airing a “bonus” episode on Sunday, June 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET. Titled “Into the Mild,” the episode features the return of Megan Mullally as the voice of Aunt Gayle. Rob Riggle appears on the show for the first time as Austin.
Fox has also renewed The Simpsons and Family Guy for next season.
