A man is behind bars after allegedly walking into an Estacada, Oregon, grocery store on Mother’s Day, covered in blood and carrying what appeared to be a human head.
KATU 2 reports that the incident occurred at the Estacada Thriftway store off of North Broadway Street. The suspect, whose name is unknown at this time, was drenched in blood as he entered the store carrying a knife in one hand and a possible human head in his other hand.
As people tried to detain the man, he reportedly stabbed an employee. A caller reported the incident to authorities at around 2:15 p.m. Deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the store at and took the suspect into custody. The employee was airlifted, taken to the hospital, and expected to survive.

At around 2:30 p.m., police received a call that a woman was deceased inside her home, off of Elwood Road in Colton, Oregon. Authorities said that the woman’s death is “connected to the grocery store stabbing.”

So far, no other details are available. The Escada Fire Department wrote that anyone who witnessed the incident at the store can call the fire department at 503-630-7712 and speak with a chaplain.
