While the nations of Russia, Syria, and Bolivia have all complained about President Trump’s decision to launch an attack on a Syrian Air Force base in response to Syria’s use of chemical weapons, many other world leaders are lining up to praise the Trump administration’s handling of events.
World leaders have lauded the attack’s magnitude and precision, as well as praising President Trump’s restraint in issuing a measured response that would limit Syrian casualties while still sending Bashar Assad a stern warning.
“The U.K. government fully supports the U.S. action, which we believe was an appropriate response to the barbaric chemical weapons attack launched by the Syrian regime, and is intended to deter further attacks,” United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May‘s office said in a statement.
In a joint statement, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Assad himself brought on the U.S. attack on the airbase and “carries responsibility for these developments.”
Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council, one of the European Union’s governing bodies, vowed to work with the U.S. to end “brutality” in Syria and blasted the Assad administration’s alleged chemical strikes as “barbaric.”
“US strikes show needed resolve against barbaric chemical attacks. EU will work with the US to end brutality in Syria,” Tusk wrote on Twitter.

The attack was also hailed by Saudi Arabia and Turkey, who are both firmly opposed to Assad and support Syrian rebels in the country in their ongoing civil war, which has so far lasted six years.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also chimed in with praise, telling the President Trump that Israel completely supports the US actions.
“In words and actions President Trump sent a strong and clear response: The use of chemical weapons is unacceptable. Israel fully and unequivocally supports the presidents decision and hopes the clear message will reverberate not only in Damascus but also in Tehran, Pyongyang and other places.”
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin echoed Netanyahu’s statements. “Israel fully and unequivocally supports the presidents decision and hopes the clear message will reverberate not only in Damascus but also in Tehran, Pyongyang and other places.”
It seems that old rivalries are flaring, and once again the United States and our Western Allies find ourselves on opposite sides of the field with Russia.
