Driver mistakes gas pedal for brake, slams into North Park apartment

SAN DIEGO — A car crashed into an apartment building Friday in North Park.

Police say the driver of the Nissan Sentra was trying to park in the lot in the 2500 block of Howard Avenue when she mistook the gas pedal for the brake.

The driver was able to climb out of the car but was not injured. A man inside the apartment was not injured.

A building inspector was called out to the scene.
