Lifetime gives us another biopic the big studios likely wouldn’t touch. The network’s new movie, From Straight A’s to XXX, tells the true story of Miriam Weeks, a Duke University student who was known as porn star Belle Knox on the side to pay her tuition. The film debuts on Lifetime at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 11. Read on for a preview of the film.
In From Straight A’s to XXX, General Hospital actress Haley Pullos stars as Miriam Weeks, who learns that her parents can’t pay the exorbitant tuition fee at Duke University. So, she decides to become porn star Belle Knox. Unfortunately, a male student discovers her secret and she has to deal with the fallout of her secret getting exposed. The Breakfast Club‘s Judd Nelson also has a part.
This isn’t the first time Weeks’ story has been told on television. In October 2014, the “Pornstar’s Requiem” episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit was loosely based on Weeks.
From Straight A’s was directed by Vanessa Parise, who also helmed 2015’s The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story and 2014’s Status, Unknown, which both aired on Lifetime. The script was written by Anne-Marie Hess, who also wrote Lifetime’s upcoming Britney Spears biopic Britney Ever After.
