Sage Steele is under fire for complaining about the inconvenience of the airport protests that have sprung up in the wake of President Trump’s ban on immigration.

As Gossip Cop has reported, Trump signed an executive order last Friday stopping travel from seven largely Muslim countries for 90 days. He also halted admissions of refugees for 120 days. Many people have been detained at airports throughout the country due to the orders, leading thousands to show up and protest in a show of support for those affected.

But while many celebrities have championed the rallies, Steele took to Instagram early Monday to complain about how the crowds negatively affected her travel plans. Alongside a picture of protesters at LAX, she wrote, “So THIS is why thousands of us dragged luggage nearly 2 miles to get to LAX, but still missed our flights. Fortunately, a 7 hour wait for the next flight to Houston won’t affect me that much, but my heart sank for the elderly and parents with small children who did their best to walk all that way but had no chance of making their flights.”

She continued, “I love witnessing people exercise their right to protest! But it saddened me to see the joy on their faces knowing that they were successful in disrupting so many people’s travel plans. Yes, immigrants were affected by this as well. Brilliant.”

Steele has since become the top trending topic on Twitter, where she’s getting criticized for seemingly coming off as selfish and out of touch. The Instagram post’s comments section has also been filled with remarks from people debating the merits of her complaint. “A flight to Houston to talk about millionaire athletes who throw a football around or put a basketball through a hoop isn’t all that important right now, Sage,” one person told her.

On Twitter, @battletested5 tweeted, “Sage Steele would have told Dr. Martin Luther King that she wasnt able to catch a cab because his March in Selma disrupted cab service.” Along the same lines, @rashadalaiyan wrote, “Sage Steele during Rosa Park’s protest: ‘Come on Rosa, just sit here in the back of the bus. I don’t want to be late to work!'” @NjGMEN973 said, “Sage Steele is more worried about missing a flight to the Super Bowl. Most things in the [world are] more important then a football game. #MuslimBan.”

@rashadalaiyan posted, “Aww poor Sage Steele missed her flight because American citizens were exercising their constitutional right to protest. Sad!” And @MeliMel_82 commented, “Ok Sage Steele. Good to see where your priorities are at.” Others, however, came to Steele’s defense.

“I’m glad someone like Sage Steele can see how idiotic these protesters are. Half of them didn’t vote & don’t know why they’re protesting,” tweeted @vsmack44. @sunshineleisha admitted, “I feel like Sage Steele is wrong but I know if I missed my flight over that I’d be mad too. Especially if it was delayed like 7 hours!” @KenDiesel argued, “A lot people mocking Sage Steele could actually learn from her.” @athenalove445 also remarked, “#sagesteele Protesting doesnt give ppl the right to mess up travel plans ppl pay for the tickets. good sage steele spoke up.”

Steele did respond on Twitter to some of her critics, including one who had tweeted to her, “I actually really enjoy you, but I disagree a lot with your opinion on this.” She responded, “All good! But just bc someone has a different opinion, doesn’t mean they’re ‘the worst.’ Unless, of course, only YOUR opinion is allowed.” She argued to another, “It wasn’t pretty seeing ppl who couldn’t speak english upset/emotional missing their flights — the same ppl protesters were there for? Lol.”
