“The View” co-hosts slammed Donald Trump on Wednesday for continuing to spread untrue claims of voter fraud. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported, earlier this morning, President Trump called for a “major investigation” into voter fraud. A number of celebrities promptly criticized him on Twitter. A short time later, the controversy was one of the “hot topics” on today’s “View.”
After playing a clip of Press Secretary Sean Spicer stating that Trump has “studies and evidence” on voter fraud, Whoopi Goldberg declared, “I call that alternative fact number one.” For that, she received laughs from her fellow panelists and cheers from the studio audience.
Goldberg then noted that Trump’s own lawyers previously said there was no indication the 2016 election was “tainted,” and Sunny Hostin pointed out that he and Spicer seem to be referring to a debunked study. “He’s relying on a study that was false. Alternative fact number two,” she said.
Joy Behar was the next to get loud applause when she said, “If the election was rigged and there’s voter fraud, I say let’s do it over again. Let’s just do it again!” Goldberg went on to assert point-blank, “There is no voter fraud. And if you really believe there is voter fraud, and apparently he does and he says they’re going to investigate it, then we want you to do it with an un-interested party.”
She then quipped, “Maybe from Russia, I don’t know!” Jedediah Bila also expressed, “You won the election. You’re the president now. Get over it, and get on to policy.” She added that while issues such as voter ID laws are valid conversations, “you can’t say that the reason I didn’t win the popular vote is because of this if there’s no proof of that.”
The ongoing discussion prompted Behar to ask, “Does anybody think that maybe this is all a red herring to distract America from looking at this extreme reactionary agenda that he is pushing through?” More cheers, but also a tiny screaming match with Bila, followed. Check out the video below.
