Celebrities are reacting to the death of Mary Tyler Moore. See stars’ tribute tweets below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Moore died at age 80 on Wednesday. Though she struggled with a number of health issues over the last few years, nothing can outshine her remarkable career as a groundbreaking actress. She is, of course, best remembered for “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” but as the tweets below show, she was also beloved for so much more.
Josh Gad tweeted, “That shift in the Earth you just felt? That crater that is left behind? That is the legacy of the incomparable #marytylermoore RIP 2 an icon.” Michelle Rodriguez wrote, “R.I.P. To another Legend.” And Elizabeth Perkins expressed, “RIP Ms. Moore. Thank u for showing a young me it was ok to be strong, single, feisty, rebellious & free. You were my beacon #MaryTylerMoore.”
Carson Daly felt, “Sad loss. True trailblazer. Rip #MaryTylerMoore.” “Damn. RIP Mary Tyler Moore. A true icon,” exclaimed Billy Eichner. Marlee Matlin offered, “TV Icon and groundbreaker #MaryTylerMoore has passed. She broke through our TV screens and showed that a powerful woman can be funny. Thank you #MTM for always being brave and helping to pave the way!! #MaryTylerMoore #RIP.” Michael Keaton, who co-starred with Moore on “The Mary Tyler Moore Hour,” wrote, “Mary(MTM) was a gem. She was iconic, my boss, cast mate and a friend and I will miss her.”

Meanwhile, Rosie O’Donnell posted a photo of her and Moore and stated, “no words.” And Paula Abdul said, “Mary Tyler Moore was appointment TV for me & my mom. I grew up watching her- she was 1 of my favorites. My sympathies to her family. #icon.”
Ben Stiller, who played Moore’s son in Flirting with Disaster, said, “I loved Mary Tyler Moore on so many levels it was confusing. Such a huge part of our culture and consciousness. Sending love to her family.” Along with a picture of Moore surprising her on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Oprah tweeted, “Even now looking at this picture I want to cry. I still can’t believe Mary Tyler Moore touched my face. Will love her 4 ever.”
Ed Asner, who co-starred on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” tweeted, “#marytylermoore my heart goes out to you and your family. Know that I love you and believe in your strength.” And Dick Van Dyke himself posted, “There are no words. She was THE BEST! We always said that we changed each other’s lives for the better.”
