If Hillary had won the 2016 election her campaign would eventually have transformed into an ongoing organizing effort the way Obama for America transformed into Organizing for Action after his reelection in 2012. Hillary lost the election but her “Stronger Together” campaign motto seems to have morphed into a new organization called “Onward Together” anyway. It even has the same arrow logo. Hillary announced it on Twitter Monday:
We're launching Onward Together to encourage people to get involved, organize, and even run for office. https://t.co/8exooosvZ5

She went on to announce some of the groups Onward Together would “support.”
People across America have made their voices heard thanks to @IndivisibleTeam, and supported @swingleft's efforts to take back the House.

.@IndivisibleTeam @swingleft @ColorOfChange .@EmergeAmerica is training diverse Democratic women candidates, and thousands of young people have signed up to @runforsomething.

.@IndivisibleTeam @swingleft @ColorOfChange @EmergeAmerica @runforsomething @GovHowardDean This year hasn't been what I envisioned, but I know what I'm still fighting for: a kinder, big-hearted, inclusive America. Onward!

I’m curious about the inclusion of Indivisible. These groups are supposedly ground-up efforts run by local people, some of whom might have been in Bernie’s camp during the election. How will they feel about being co-opted by the Clinton brand? I know she’s only promising to “support” them at this point but financial support always comes with strings attached, even if it’s just hesitation to bite the hand that feeds.
If you go to the actual website there are only two tabs to look at so far. One is the “Mission” page where Hillary’s people seem to see all recent protest efforts as leading up to the moment of the glorious announcement of Onward Together:
From the Women’s March to airports where communities are welcoming immigrants and refugees to town hall meetings in every community, Americans are speaking up and speaking out like never before.
The challenges we face as a country are real. But there’s no telling what we can achieve if we approach the fights ahead with the passion and determination we feel today, and bring that energy into 2017, 2018, 2020, and beyond.
The only other page is the one for donations. So the message seems to be: Someone needs to capitalize on all this crazy progressive energy and it might as well be Hillary.
As for whether she has any other plans for the group, say in 2020, probably not for herself. Back when word of Onward Together first broke a couple weeks ago, Allahpundit noted that Hillary seemed to be saying this wasn’t her ticket to a 3rd try at the White House. I believe that only mostly because I don’t think anyone is crazy enough to want to see her run again. Could Onward Together eventually become a vehicle for a younger Clinton who seems intent on presenting herself as the heir to the political dynasty? I wouldn’t be surprised.
