On American Idol, Maddie Poppe slayed with her cover of “Brand New Key” by Melanie for her Top 24 Solo performance in front of a live audience and Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie on American Idol. Maddie received strong feedback from the judges after her performance.
Luke Bryan said Maddie is here for that moment. Luke said he did not know that song but wanted to go skipping down the beach. Luke called her all-American with that performance. Luke wanted to go get that song. Katy Perry said she was so infectious and feels her authenticity. Katy said she sticks to her guns and knows who she is as an artist. Lionel Ritchie said he wants to make sure that all the contestants show who they are. Lionel said she has given them it all in one package. Lionel said the road that she is on is the road that she needs to be on.
