An 1.1.0 update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has just been released, changing everything from balancing issues to a rude gesture.
Twitter user @Wario64 details the changes above, which includes balancing mechanics and adding new features for online play. One of the more interesting changes in the update is replacing an animation for the Inkling Girl of Splatoon fame. Many deemed the animation that plays after hitting an opponent with an item to look too much like the “up yours” gesture.

The animation has been changed to resemble the gesture less, as we can see in GameXplain’s video.
This isn’t the first time a rude gesture has been removed in a Nintendo Game. The Japanese release of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars had a victory pose for Bowser that resembled the “up yours” gesture. It was changed for the American release.
